PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Outreach leader, author works to improve relationships through new book
Washington, DC — Outreach efforts to local homeless and incarcerated individuals and supporting citizens in re-entry programs are a few ways advocate Kisha Bridges-Ward connects vital services to the vulnerable
population. “Social work is what I am blessed to do, and I am excited about aligning with more DC-area organizations,” she states, reflecting on her work during the past holiday season’s Project Angel Tree outreach to support children of incarcerated parents.
Through “These Are They Ministry, Inc.,” her faith-based organization, she serves victims and the accused of domestic violence. Bridges-Ward, a DC resident, ordained minister, evangelist and author, endured abuse and family dysfunction from an early age. Today, she works in her community to empower youth, support victims of domestic violence and motivate the accused men and women.
“Distributing business attire and Smartrip cards to individuals for transportation, providing resources for job training, job readiness, interviewing preparation and employment is especially important for re-entry citizens,” she states, sharing a bit more about her organization while reflecting on her mentoring efforts to local programs. “I believe at-risk individuals are the ‘These Are They’ that will turn the world upside down and make a big impact when properly empowered, encouraged and supported,” she continues on the namesake for her organization, based on the New Testament scripture Acts 17:6.
As a social worker at heart, she also works closely with local courts to oversee and ensure that ex-offenders are in compliance with their court-ordered documentation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Social Work from the Catholic University of America.
While using her education, counseling expertise, and relationship experience in a new way to improve relationships, she has published a new book, Separated, Not Single: Restoring Godly Self-Worth (RGMI Press),
to guide men and women in living better lives during marital separation and after divorce.
“The book also addresses the need for single and married people to live their best life possible based on standards of excellence,” Bridges-Ward states. “I understand relationships from different angles as a social worker, and it is important to live up to good standards. Others share their experiences with mine in the book.”
She will be signing copies of her new book on Saturday, March 23, 2024, 2:00 p.m., at John 3:16 Christian Bookstore, 10498 Campus Way South, Largo, Maryland, 20774.
Bridges-Ward is a member of Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church (Archbishop Alfred Owens and Dr. Susie Owens), located in Northeast, DC; she was ordained an evangelist by Apostle Tyrone Giles of Faith and Power Covenant Ministries of Raleigh, NC. Currently she works with victims of violent crimes and those experiencing homelessness and suffering, with co-occurring mental health disorders and substance abuse.
