Meet Brenardo Taylor!

About the Book:

The drawbridge has been lowered… You may now enter for the journey of joy and hope with a conscience. Each poem of Bridge Over Aggravated Troubles sings out in soulful lines to deliver melodies of justice and equality during these inharmonious times. This collection embodies performance poetry crafted with chants that amplify the African American experience and the collective plight of humankind alike, from anthems to prayers, with themes of family life, community ties, leadership lies, and heart cries. Critically acclaimed, with rhythmic expressions from the stage strategically preserved in print, Bridge Over Aggravated Troubles is a much-needed message for our time and for generations to come. Includes four sample poems from Brenardo’s upcoming book, Woke Rhymes With Hope.

About the Author:

Brenardo, “The Sing Song Poet,” is a lyrical adventurer of word and sound. The poems he brings to the fore show his versatility as a Page Plus Performance Poet. He has been writing poetry of all facets for over two thirds of his life, incorporating his own unique view of creativity through musicality in word. His poems speak to civil rights, spirituality, human development, compassion, peace, progress, and the fullness that is life. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a veteran of stage, radio, and television in presenting his work, Brenardo has performed his poems and songs worldwide, alongside Amiri Baraka, Sonia Sanchez, Dick Gregory, Saul Williams, and other esteemed visionaries, giving voice to movement. In 2008, Brenardo served as co-founder and administrator for Poets and Artists for Obama, putting his voice and vitality to use to champion the future President. He is an alumnus of Poets in Progress, under the tutelage of the late Dolores Kendrick, D.C. Poet Laureate; the Anointed P.E.N.S. Ministry of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church; and was one of four poets selected as a Poet of Excellence for Prince George’s County, Maryland, in 2020. His written words have been featured in countless newspapers and magazines. Currently, he is a member of Collective Voices, a respected D.C. area poetry troupe.
